Watch it

“Friday Night Lights” (8 p.m., NBC). No Giants tonight, so this’ll start on time. Tonight, Vince has doubts after being named QB1 and then runs into some gun-related trouble. Man, it’s never easy with this kid. Meanwhile, Julie’s all broken up over Matt, Landry makes a move on Jess and Luke gets yanked from school to do ranch work.

“Party Down” (10 p.m., Starz). The crew caters a draft-day party for a quarterback who doesn’t get drafted. Hey, it’s the Jimmy Clausen story! Well, almost.

Record it

“Discovery Saved My Life” (9 p.m., Discovery). So TV just rots your mind, huh? Tune in and hear stories from six people who say Discovery taught them lessons that saved their lives. Sounds pretty self-congratulatory, but could actually be interesting.

“Dual Survival” (10 p.m., Discovery). And then check out two survivalists trying to make it out of rugged mountains in New Zealand.

“Chefs vs. City” (10 p.m., Food Network). I kinda hate this show, but I like Seattle. Which is where they’ll be tonight.

World Cup

Germany vs. Serbia (4:30 a.m., ESPN). Can anyone stop Germany? In the first round, I say no.

U.S. vs. Slovenia (7 a.m., ESPN). The U.S. needs a win here, but Slovenia is surprisingly tough.

Algeria vs. England (11:30 p.m., ESPN2). Look for England to take out their frustrations. If not, look for the British tabloids to take out theirs.

Japan vs. Netherlands (4:30 a.m. Saturday, ESPN). The Orange will crush.

Skip it

“Miley Cyrus in London: Live at the O2” (8 p.m., ABC). Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!
