Watch it

A’s vs. Giants (7 p.m., NBC-11). The A’s swept Part I of the Bay Bridge series; can the Giants even things up? Tim Lincecum takes the hill for the Giants.

“Friday Night Lights” (10 p.m.-ish, NBC). Warning, this will start after the Giants-A’s game, so it might be before 10, might be after. Meanwhile, over in Dillon, Lyla’s back in town and hooks up with Riggins. And Matt and Julie make a decision about their future. Since Matt Saracen is involved, it can’t be a happy one. Poor kid.

Kickoff time

World Cup: Mexico vs. South Africa (6:25 a.m., ESPN). The World Cup opener, live. El Tri might have their most talented team ever, but South Africa has a 12-game unbeaten streak and a massive home-field advantage. This should be a good one. If you’ll be sleeping or at work, ESPN2 will replay the game at 11:30 p.m.

France vs. Uruguay (11:30 a.m., ESPN). France was a huge disappointment during the last World Cup, and it’s always fun to root against them. Uruguay has some superstar strikes who could cause problems.

Greece vs. South Korea (4 a.m. Saturday, ESPN). If you’re not already asleep, this game should help you out.

Record it

“Stargate Universe” (9 p.m., Syfy). It’s season-finale time, and there’s a hostage crisis aboard the Destiny.

“Gavin and Stacey” (9 p.m., BBC America). Gavin has a heart-to-heart with his father.

“Party Down” (10 p.m., Starz). Roman’s former writing partner hires the crew so he can gloat. Paul Sheer guest-stars as the gloater.

“Dual Survivor” (10 p.m., Discovery). Series premiere. Wow, do we really need another survivalist show? I’m kinda a sucker for them though. This one pairs two survivalists with different attitudes toward nature (one’s hardcore military, one’s a tree-hugger). Tonight they have to survive on a remote island off Nova Scotia in the dead of winter.

“Dinner With the Band” (10:30 p.m., IFC). Murder City Devils eat/perform. I’ve never heard of them, but maybe I’m just not cool enough.

“Paul F. Tompkins: ‘You Should Have Told Me'” (11 p.m., Comedy Central). A new standup special from the veteran comedian. I saw him perform in January, he’s pretty funny.

World Cup Celebration Concert (8 p.m., ABC). Do you really want to watch a day-old concert with Shakira and Black Eyed Peas? I didn’t think so.
