There’s really not much worth watching tonight. The real best bet for excitement and drama are a plethora of college basketball games, starting from 9 a.m. and lasting until around 11 p.m. Just go to one of the ESPNs, or CSNs and you’ll find something good. The local highlights: Cal plays UCLA at 6 p.m. on CSN-BA, and Stanford plays Washington at 8:30, also on CSN-BA.

Watch it

“Who Do You Think You Are?” (8 p.m., NBC). Ehh, not like there’s much else on. Tonight former NFL star Emmitt Smith discovers some startling news about his ancestors.

“The Ricky Gervais Show” (9 p.m., HBO). Among tonight’s topics: Karl’s trip to a spa and dangerous dolphins.

“The Life and Times of Tim” (9:30 p.m., HBO). Tim tries to help raise money for Boy Scouts, and things inevitably go awry. And Rodney things his wife is having an affair. Wait, Rodney’s married?

“The Soup” (10 p.m., E). Get Joel McHale’s weekly dose of snark. There’s a good bet they’ll have Kathy Ireland’s kooky pre-Oscar interviews, which are worth checking out.

“Late Show with David Letterman” (11:35 p.m., CBS). Jim Gaffigan drops by, and he’s always hilarious. Drive-By Truckers perform, and they’re always awesome. What’s not to like?

Record it

“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” (10 p.m., Starz). I can’t keep up with who’s who. Suffice to say, there’ll be bloody fights and gratuitous sex.

Skip it

“American Loggers” (10 p.m., Discovery). The loggers try to cut down 3,000 trees in a week. Now, I know what my newspaper is made from, and I like wood furniture and floors and all, but that still kinda makes me cringe.
