Watch it

“Who Do You Think You Are?” (8 p.m., NBC). Here’s another celebrity genealogy series, coming on the heels of PBS’s Henry Louis Gates-hosted “Faces of America.” Expect plenty of extreme  closeups and a hokey Ken Burns-like soundtrack. Tonight Sarah Jessica Parker traces her ancestors back to the Gold Rush and Salem witch trials. The big question: Is all this really interesting to anyone but the celebrity in question?

“Ricky Gervais Show” (9 p.m., HBO). Karl talks about the reverse-aging process and is roundly mocked. Other topics include favorite superhero powers and space travel.

“Life and Times of Tim” (9:30 p.m., HBO). Tim gets “rescued” by a female firefighter and is, of course, humiliated when she becomes a media hero.

“The Soup Awards” (10 p.m., E). I always seem to forget about “The Soup,” but it’s a nice weekly dose of reality-show snark. Tonight, just in time for the Oscars, they hand out awards for the best pop-culture blunders of the year.

Record it

“Caprica” (9 p.m., Syfy). Only because James Marsters (Spike from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) is introduced as a new character. Hmmm, you know, some intergalactic vampires would make “Caprica” a little more interesting.

“House Hunters” (9 p.m., HGTV). A couple look for a second home in the Nape Valley.

“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” (10 p.m., Starz). OK, I admit, it’s gotten slightly better as the season’s progressed. But it’s still pretty stupid. And ultra-violent. And soft-core porn-ey.

Skip it

“Most Haunted” (8 p.m., Travel Channel). A search for ghosts in a Cold War-era bunker in England. Here’s a spoiler: There aren’t any.
