Watch it

Winter Olympics (8 p.m., NBC). Surprisingly, I’m becoming a fan of cross country skiing. Close finishes, compelling storylines, incredible endurance athletes . . . . what’s not to like? Tonight the strong American team goes for gold in the team Nordic combined (which is ski jumping and cross country). There’s also women’s ski-cross and women’s bobsled, and NBC will surely go gaga over the start of women’s figure skating.

“Lost” (9 p.m., ABC). It’s a Jack-centric episode, and Hurley takes him to a mysterious lighthouse. Meanwhile, what’s up with those names and numbers on the cave wall?

“Frontline: Behind Taliban Lines” (10 p.m., PBS). An in-depth look at the folks fighting against U.S. troops in northern Afghanistan, and what their motivations are. Should be very interesting, and — surprise! — actually important TV.

Record it

“American Idol” (8 p.m., Fox). I hate it, but it’s one of the bigger episodes of the season so far as the 12 female finalists hit the stage and viewer voting begins.

“White Collar” (10 p.m., USA). Neal tries to recreate a 200-year-old bottle of wine for some kind of con man bragging rights.

Skip it

“Party Heat” (10 p.m, TruTV). Another “Cops” wannabe, only less gritty since the cops are cracking down on partyers.
