Watch it

“Chuck” (8 p.m., NBC). Is Captain Awesome really dead? Ehhh, not likely. Whew. Meanwhile, Superman — err, Brandon Routh — guest-stars as Chuck’s new rival for Sarah. Angie Harmon guest-stars too as a bad-guy spy.

“Life Unexpected” (9 p.m., The CW). Series premiere. A “Gilmore Girls”-type series about a teenage girl given up for adoption who tracks down her birth parents, who of course turn out to be awesome. Sounds “very special” and sweet. But for what it is, it looks pretty decent.

“Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” (11:35 p.m., NBC). His final week? Conan was on fire last week, and with nothing left to lose, he’ll probably be even edgier this week.

Record it

“How I Met Your Mother” (8 p.m., CBS). Lily doesn’t believe that Marshall got kissed by a hot chick (guest Amanda Peet).

“No Reservations” (8 and 11 p.m., Travel Channel). Anthony Bourdain goes to Istanbul (not Constantinople). Places like this seem to bring out the best in Bourdain, really getting to the heart of an exotic destination you don’t think of very often.

“24” (8 p.m., Fox). Two more hours. Dude, if you’re broadcasting (or watching) three hours of “24” over two night, it’d better be really good. Otherwise it’ll be getting really old, really fast.

“Tom Brokaw Presents: American Character Along Highway 50” (8 p.m., USA). Brokaw goes on a road trip across the country, talking to ordinary folks about their struggles. Depressing? Sure. But you know it’ll be well-done and insightful.

“My Life as Liz” (10:30 and 11 p.m., MTV). Series premiere. MTV tries out a scripted series about a outsider teenage girl. Ehh, why not? Couldn’t be dumber than anything else on MTV.

Skip it

“The Jay Leno Show” (10 p.m., NBC). Boooooo! Hisssssssssss!
