Watch it

“Human Target” (8 p.m., Fox). Series premiere. This new action series is getting good reviews. Mark Valley stars as a super bodyguard who gets into exceedingly dangerous situations. Shootouts, car chases, explosions and hot chicks (Tricia Helfer guest stars tonight). What’s not to like?

Then switch over to . . .

Golden Globe Awards (8 p.m., NBC). Ricky Gervais hosts. Let’s see, a fearless comedian who loves to skewer celebrities, a late-night feud that has riled up Hollywood, and plenty of booze flowing. This could be one awesome awards show.

Record it

“24” (9 p.m., Fox). Season premiere. A new day starts for Jack Bauer. The nonstop exploits and ridiculous twists have made it into almost a cartoon, more of a funny drinking game than a serious action drama, but who knows, maybe this will be a good season. It’s been a while since they’ve had one.

“Iron Chef America” (9 p.m., Food Network). It’s new Iron Chef Garces’ first challenge. He’ll square off against Seattle chef Rachel Yang.

“Worst Chefs in America” (10 p.m., Food Network). The chefs try to teach the importance of flavor. Um, yeah, that’s slightly important.

“Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening” (10 p.m., Comedy Central). A new standup special from the “Human Giant” veteran. Should be pretty funny.

Skip it

“Secrets of Aspen” (10 p.m., VH1). The biggest secret? It’s boooooring.
