It doesn’t come as a big surprise, but official word came out today that Fox has canceled “24.” The once-great action drama has lost a ton of viewers since it took the TV world by storm in 2001, and long ago ceased being a source of watercooler chat. (Though have you ever talked to anyone at the water cooler? I don’t think I have. Maybe it’s because I have my own bottle of water and I’m too antisocial to use the office watercooler.)

The series only has two weeks of shooting left, so a series finale will have to be done on the fly. Expect some closure, but don’t look for Jack to die, as has been suggested before (by star Kiefer Sutherland, even). Sutherland and the producers are still holding out hope for a feature film, which could come out as early as next year. There were rumors that NBC might pick up the series, but that didn’t pan out.

The series finale airs May 24.

So does anyone care? Anyone out there still watching it? I haven’t watched regularly since Season 5 or 6, and I don’t feel like I missed much.
