Ricky Gervais, the British comic genius behind “The Office” and “Extras,” has a new show debuting Friday night (9 p.m.) on HBO. “The Ricky Gervais Show” is a repackaged version of his hilarious podcasts that have been widely downloaded on iTunes; basically, they just animated the three-man discussions between Gervais, writing partner Stephen Merchant and producer Karl Pilkington, who, as they say across the pond, is absolutely mental. It’s a free-flowing conversation/rant that’s simply hilarious.
