It’s never a good sign for a struggling series when its star signs on for a pilot on another network. Based on that, don’t expect to see ABC’s “Better Off Ted” or the revamped “Scrubs” again — ‘Ted” himself, Jay Harrington, has been cast in an NBC sitcom called “Nathan vs. Nurture,” and Donal Faison — Turk on “Scrubs” — is hopping over to CBS for “The Odds,” a buddy cop comedy set in Las Vegas.

Neither move is a big surprise — “Ted” got yanked around the schedule and never found an audience, and “Scrubs” was a shell of its former self this year. Neither series has officially been canceled yet, and both stars are still under contract if they get renewed. But this just shows that neither one expects to be back.
