im-with-cocoSo the latest hot rumor out of the “Tonight Show” debacle is that next week will be Conan O’Brien’s last on the show. People magazine reports that Conan “does not currently plan on doing any more new shows after next week.” That backs up a Twitter post from ESPN’s “Sports Guy” Bill Simmons, who said earlier Thursday that Conan is booking big guests next week so he can go out with a bang. (Simmons used to to write for “The Jimmy Kimmel Show,” so he has some late-night cred.)

UPDATE: Now TMZ is reporting Jay Leno has signed a deal to return to “The Tonight Show,” so it looks like Conan is definitely out.

In other Conan-related gossip mongering, Vanity Fair asks if the feud between O’Brien and NBC exec Jeff Zucker is payback for a college prank back in their Harvard days (there’s a big rivalry between the Harvard Crimson and the Harvard Lampoon, and Zucker had Conan arrested after one incident). It’s kinda a rambling and totally Harvard-centric column, but it’s interesting.

And if you want to email NBC executives and voice your support for Team Coco, here’s a link with all their email addresses. The important ones: Jeff.Gaspin@nbc.com and Jeff.Zucker@nbc.com. Probably won’t do much good, other than overwhelm their personal assistants, but it always feels nice to vent.
