Watch it

“Modern Family” (9 p.m., ABC). Woo hoo, new episodes are back! Benjamin Bratt guest stars as Gloria’s ex, who’s notoriously awesome at everything. Except being trustworthy.

“Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…” (10 p.m., Sundance). The show pulls a little switcheroo and has actress Mary-Louise Parker interview Costello about his songwriting process and collaborative work.

Record it

“Cougar Town” (9:30 p.m., ABC). I’m still not liking this series, but tonight there’s a “Friends” mini reunion as Courtney Cox is joined by guest-star Lisa Kudrow. And Kudrow can be funny. Maybe she’ll elevate the material.

“Man vs. Wild” (9 p.m., Discovery). Season premiere. Bear gets “stuck” on an island off Panama and has to build a raft to get home. Wait, didn’t he do this exact same thing in an episode in the South Pacific a couple of seasons ago?

“Steven Seagal: Lawman” (10 p.m., A&E). Steven Seagal supports a fellow cop in a “best legs” contest. I’m not making this up. That’s so inane it just begs to be watched.

“House Hunters International” (10 p.m., HGTV). A couple with a $250,000 budget looks for a house in Morocco. Is that exotic enough for ya?

Skip it

“People’s Choice Awards” (9 p.m., CBS). People’s Choice? Sounds socialist to me.

“Nip/Tuck” (10 p.m., FX). Season premiere. The seventh — and final — season finally begins. But no one’s been watching for about three seasons now, so who cares?
