Watch it

“Head Games” (9 p.m., Science Channel). Series premiere. Comedian Greg Proops hosts this science trivia show that’s produced by Whoopi Goldberg. I love Proops. He’s best known for his appearances on ABC’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” but I’ve been a big fan since his standup days in San Francisco in the early ’90s. Anything he does is almost guaranteed to be entertaining.

“15 Seconds: The Earthquake of 1989” (10 p.m., Ch. 7). KGO-TV takes a look back at the Loma Prieta quake 20 years ago today. Where were you when the earth shook?

Record it

“Tailgate Warriors” (9 p.m., Food Network). If you can stand an hour of Guy Fieri’s schtick, this could be pretty good, as tailgaters outside a Bears-Bills football game square off in a battle of grilled meats. Mmmmm.

Games of the day

Oklahoma at Texas (9 a.m., ABC). The Red River Shootout. Oklahoma has has a disappointing season, but this should be a fun game between two high-powered offenses. And the teams really don’t like each other.

USC at Notre Dame (12:30 p.m., NBC). Irish QB Jimmy Clausen finally faces a real defense. This could be a beat-down by the Trojans.

Cal at UCLA (12:30 p.m., ABC). Can the Golden Bears salvage their season? Or will they continue with their typical mid- to end-of -season tailspin?

Stanford at Arizona (4:30 p.m., Versus). Should be a high-scoring affair as both teams try to position themselves for a lower-level bowl game.

Angels at Yankees (4:30 p.m., Fox). Game 2 of the ALCS. Can the Angels spare us from a Yankees World Series? Kendry Morales, you’re our only hope . . .

Fox Reality Channel Really Awards (7 p.m., Fox Reality Channel). The fourth (and final, since the channel is being scrapped) annual awards show honoring reality TV. Please don’t encourage them.

“Saturday Night Live” (11:30 p.m., NBC). Gerard Butler hosts. I’ll finally watch him when he makes a movie I actually want to see. That’s not happening tonight.
