Who needs Guy Fieri when we’ve got Lucky the Turtle? Sonoma County’s most beloved celebrity since Adam the Cat jetted off to New York Wednesday (first class, of course) to make his majorl network TV debut this morning on NBC’s “Today” show

Lucky, of course, is the Petaluma box turtle that had furniture coasters attached to his underparts as sort of prosthetics after a raccoon bit off his two front legs. He’s getting along fine now, scooting himself around, and is an inspiration to disabled turtles around the world. Kinda like the Jason Street of reptiles, to use a “Friday Night Lights” analogy.

Lucky will share his harrowing yet inspiring tale of survival and overcoming obstacles to a no-doubt captivated Meredith Viera (or dare we hope for Matt Lauer?) bright and early this morning. He’ll be joined by human caretaker Sally Pyne and Al Wolf of Sonoma County Reptile Rescue. No word yet on exactly which segment of the four-hour show the trio will appear. But you can be sure it’ll end up on the show’s video highlights here, so check it out later in the day.

If this doesn’t make you go “Awwwww,” then you’re just heartless:
