It’s a big night, so get your DVR ready . . .

Watch it

“Mad Men” (10 p.m., AMC). Sally starts acting out at school, and Don and Betty have to actually deal with her. You just know Sally is going to rebel in a few more years, move to San Francisco and call herself “Moonbeam.”

“True Blood” (9 p.m., HBO). The season finale. I’m kicking myself for not catching up with Season 1 on DVD, because I’m hearing nothing but raves for the second season. Even though it is vampire overload. Maybe I’ll catch up by Season 3.

“Hung” (10 p.m., HBO). The season finale. Tanya and Lenore battle over Ray and the man-ho business, while Ray worries about layoffs at work (don’t we all?). Meanwhile, Jessica looks elsewhere for some, ah, satisfaction. Perhaps a happiness consultant is in her future?

Record it

“King of the Hill” (9 p.m., Fox). The series finale. I’ve never watched the series regularly, but it’s one of those shows that I like every time I see an episode. It’s flown under the radar for years, and it’s a why-aren’t-more-people-watching-this type of show that deserves a good sendoff.

“Entourage” (10:30, HBO). The guys stalk Vince’s stalker as awesome sleazeball Adam Davies stalks Lloyd and offers him a job. Warning: Ashley has a plotline. Oooh, maybe the stalker can kill her by mistake!

“HGTV Design Star” (10 p.m., HGTV). I’ve gotten sucked into this, and it’s actually pretty good. Tonight’s the finale, with Dan and Antonio squaring off for the grand prize. Their mission: Design an entire house. My money’s on Antonio.

Flip around and catch bits

Bears vs. Packers (5:30 p.m., NBC). Should be a good game, but I couldn’t care less about either team. Warning: NBC is going to flood the game with Jay Leno promos and ads disguised as jersey-wearing fans in the stands.

MTV Video Music Awards (9 p.m., MTV). Will Britney embarrass herself again? Who will flash fans with boobage/buttage? How over-the-top will the Michael Jackson tribute be? You just know there’ll be some sort of pop culture disaster happening. And it’ll be a terrible show that will make you hate today’s pop music and the cult of celebrity. But host Russell Brand will probably be good for a few potshots as deserving celebs and you can always pour yourself an adult beverage and mock the proceedings.
