FX has just released a sneak peek at “Lawman,” its upcoming modern cowboy drama starring the guy who played the coolest cowboy in recent TV memory – Timothy Olyphant of “Deadwood.” The sense of duty behind the badge, the unflappable nerves, the quiet but menacing growl, the steely glare peering from beneath the rim of his 10-gallon hat . . . . it’s like Seth Bullock is back, a century later. And that is nothing short of awesome.

The 13-episode series is based on an Elmore Leonard short story, about a U.S. marshal with a Wild West sense of justice who returns home to the backwoods of Kentucky to take on bad guys and his own misguided bosses. It’s set to debut next spring. Based on this preview, count me in.
