This is why I hate network TV.

“Better Off Ted,” one of the best new comedies of the season and an underdog series that’s trying to build an audience, got pre-empted Tuesday night. Again. This comes after “Ted” has twice been bumped by Obama primetime press conferences and unceremoniously yanked from ABC’s schedule in May after airing only a handful of episodes. This time it was pre-empted at the last minute for “The Bachelorette” finale. Pardon me; a rerun of “The Bachelorette” finale.

I’m just left shaking my head. It’s almost like ABC is actively trying to deny viewers from watching “Ted.” And they’re doing a pretty good job of it, which is a rarity for them.

Way to treat your audience with utter contempt, ABC. Much as I enjoy the show, I think this is the last straw. I’m done. I’ve tried to watch it. I’ve liked it – a lot – when it’s been on. But I’m tired of being jerked around, and there are only a few new episodes left anyway. The Season 1 DVD should be out in a few months, and I can wait. Plus I’ll have the added little self-righteous, stick-it-to-The-Man benefit of denying ABC a viewer.

Fight the power, “Ted” fans. And maybe watch old episodes of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on DVD instead.
