Word came out Monday that “Scrubs” might be back for another season on ABC after all. This season was intended to be the end of the line, and star Zach Braff is moving on, but talk has apparently gotten more serious about keeping the show going with new doctors, with some of the current regulars coming back for occasional guest appearances.

Honestly, I think the series is played out, and it’s best to go out now, on a high note. TV shows are a lot like pro athletes: Instead of retiring a year too early, most stick around a year too long and tarnish their legacy.

The new crop of interns introduced this season just aren’t very interesting, certainly not enough to build a whole show around. I don’t think it’d work.

However, the article also says ABC would like to continue the pairing of “Scrubs” and “Better Off Ted,” which is encouraging news for my favorite bubble show. Tell you what — if “Ted” comes back, I’ll live with another year of “Scrubs.”
