I just watched the trailer for ABC’s remake of “V.” It gave me goose bumps. Ominous, chilling, inspiring . . . the series looks so, so very cool, almost a “Battlestar Galactica”-type re-imagining. I only have vague recollections of the original “V” from the ’80s, something about alien visitors colonizing Earth and the great mystery: Are they here to save mankind or to destroy us? Oh, and the creepy lizard baby, who can forget that?

The new series co-stars Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet from “Lost”) and Scott Wolf (hey, he’s still around!) in what looks to be a pretty good-sized ensemble cast. First impressions remind me of “X-Files” (fighting the alien conspiracy), “Battlestar Galactica” (issues of salvation and worship) and “Invasion” (who’s human, who’s not?). Which makes sense, since all of those series owe a bit of themselves to the original “V.”

I don’t know if it’ll be the best new show of the fall, but after seeing this trailer, it’s suddenly the one I’m looking forward to the most. Check it out and try not to squeal in glee.
