Basketball fans will get a bonus from Comcast in the coming months: NBA TV is being moved to basic digital cable. The all hoops, all the time network which airs more than 100 live games a season has previously only been available on a higher-priced sports package. But under a deal reached Wednesday, it’ll be added to Comcast’s “Digital Classic” package, making it available for no additional charge to 13 million viewers nationwide.

That makes it a clean sweep for sports fans, as NBA TV will join NFL Network (which will be widely available by August), MLB Network and NHL Network as all being available on Comcast’s most popular package.

There’s no precise timeline yet, but look for the move sometime before the start of next season.

Personally, the most appealing part of NBA TV is the rebroadcast of classic games. Gimme some Dr. J, some Bernard King, and some Run-TMC-era Warriors, back when they were still fun to watch.
