Watch it

Ricky Gervais: “Out of England 2” (10 p.m., HBO). The acerbic British comedian performs his hilariously inappropriate standup act. Should be very, very funny.

Record it

“Guy’s Big Bite” (8 p.m., Food Network). Guy Fieri cooks with Matthew McConaughey. There’s so much unintentional comedy there . . . . wow. Let’s just hope Guy doesn’t do any naked bongo drumming.

“24/7 Penguins-Capitals: Road to the NHL Winter Classic” (11:15 p.m., HBO). Think of it as hockey’s version of “Hard Knocks.” It’s a behind-the-scene look at two teams as they prepare for the league’s annual outdoor game. It premiered Wednesday, but gets re-aired tonight. It’s supposed to be super good, with a lot of locker-room insight and features a coach whose cursing puts even Rex Ryan to shame.

Skip it

“Saturday Night Live” (11:30 p.m., NBC). It baffles me how a series with so many castmembers who are legitimately funny in other shows can be so consistently unfunny on this one. Is the “SNL” writing staff that bad? Tonight Jeff Bridges hosts and Eminem angrily raps.
