Watch it

Giants vs. Phillies (4:30 p.m., Fox). Game 1 of the NL Championship Series from Philly, with one of the best pitching matchups in recent playoff history: Roy Halladay vs. Tim Lincecum. You’ve gotta believe!

Record it

“Tower Prep” (9 p.m., Cartoon Network). Series premiere. The Cartoon Network goes live-action with this new tween series about the supernatural goings-on at a mysterious prep school. Sounds like an American “Harry Potter.” But it might be decent if you’re of a certain age.

Catch a score

Arkansas vs. Auburn (12:30 p.m., CBS). A terrific matchup of great offenses and two of the top 12 teams in the country.

Cal vs. USC (12:30 p.m., CSN-BA). Cal’s not great, but the Trojans look worse. Good, I hate USC.

Boise State vs. San Jose State (5 p.m., KOFY). Sorry Spartans, this will be a beatdown of epic proportions.

Yankees vs. Rangers (1 p.m., TBS). Game 2 from Texas.

Thrashers vs. Sharks (7:30 p.m., CSN-CA). Hmmm, September heat wave . . . that means it’s hockey time! After two season-opening games in Sweden, the Men in Teal hit the ice for their home opener tonight.

Skip it

“Outlaw” (8 p.m., NBC). In its death throes, it’s been put to pasture on Saturday nights.

“Blue Mountain State” (11 p.m., Spike). Season premiere. Watching this college football-based sitcom will actually make you stupider. It’s true, doctors say so. And they wouldn’t lie.

“Saturday Night Live” (11:30 p.m., NBC). Geez, only a few weeks into the season and already a rerun? Tonight it’s the three-week-old season opener with Amy Poehler.
