Watch it

“Amazing Race” (8 p.m., CBS). The racers struggle through searing heat and puzzling challenges in Ghana. One racer even needs medical attention. Uh oh.

“Rubicon” (9 p.m., AMC). Ooooh, things are starting to pick up. Last week even got the ol’ pulse racing a bit. Tonight the API team tries to catch the terrorist Kateb before he strikes, while Kale tries to protect Katherine Rumer.

“Mad Men” (10 p.m., AMC). Don runs into an old friend as he tries to steer the company out of its crisis.

Record it

“Boardwalk Empire” (9 p.m., HBO). Jimmy’s on the lam, and finds Al Capone in Chicago. Meanwhile, back in Atlantic City, Nucky tries to bribe a senator, and Omar — errr, Chalky — tries to find whoever lynched his man.

“Masterpiece Mystery: Wallander: The Man Who Smiled” (9 p.m., PBS). The usually depressed Swedish cop is even more depressed and on leave from the department, but starts investigating a blackmail case involving a tycoon.

“Next Iron Chef” (9 p.m., Food Network). Only because Duskie Estes of Santa Rosa’s Zazu is involved. Even though she came off as kinda an egomaniacal jerk last week.

“IRT Deadliest Roads” (9 p.m., History). Suddenly the most harrowing show on TV. I had to turn it off last week, those sheer drops and narrow roads were freaking me out.

“Bored to Death” (10 p.m., HBO). Jonathan’s S&M club case comes back to haunt him, as he’s kidnapped by two goons who want the club’s hard drive.

Catch a score

Giants vs. Braves (1:30 p.m., TBS). Game 3 from Atlanta. After Friday’s epic choke by the Giants, my stomach will be churning all game. Thank goodness Jonathan Sanchez is starting; if it was Barry Zito, I don’t know if I could bear to watch.

Rays vs. Rangers (10 a.m., TBS). Game 4 from Texas. The Rays finally woke up yesterday; can they stave off elimination again?

Phillies vs. Reds (5 p.m., TBS ). Game 3 from Cincy, as the Phillies go for the sweep.

Packers vs. Redskins (10 a.m., Fox). Or sleep in.

Broncos vs. Ravens (10 a.m., CBS). Lots of rushing attempts, at least.

Titans vs. Cowboys (1 p.m., CBS). Thanks to the Raiders blackout, we get to see what should be much more competitive game.

Eagles vs. 49ers (5 p.m. NBC). Two terrible teams, so a winnable game for the Niners. Which means they’ll lose by 14.

Skip it

“My Brand New Face” (9 p.m., TLC). I don’t even want to know what it’s about. The title and the fact that it’s on TLC are enough for me to know that it’ll be creepy.

“Sister Wives” (10 and 10:30 p.m., TLC). Speaking of creepy . . .

“Food Feuds” (10 p.m., Food Network). Series premiere. Another blatant ripoff, this time of Travel Channel’s “Food Wars.” Food Network seems lack any originality in its most recent crop of series, it’s kinda weird and disturbing.
