Watch it

Vikings vs. Saints (5:30 p.m., NBC). The NFL season kicks off with Old Man Favre and the Vikings going to New Orleans to take on the Super Bowl champion Saints. I’m pulling for a season-ending injury so we can be done with Favre’s  ego-stroking media frenzy once and for all. Maybe a nice linebacker to the knee.

“Nikita” (9 p.m., The CW). Series premiere. A super assassin takes revenge on the secret government agency that trained and then betrayed her. Will it be highbrow entertainment? No. Will it have hot chicks, frantic shootouts and slow-mo explosions? Yup. That’s enough for me.

“Project Runway” (9 p.m., Lifetime). The designers have to make resort ware. Like what Frank and Estelle Costanza would wear at Del Boca Vista.

“Jersey Shore” (10 p.m., MTV). Ooooh, the post-fight fallout. I sense tension in the house. And I think Angelina makes out with Vinnie.

“House Hunters International” (10:30 p.m., HGTV). A British couple look for a grand second home in the south of France. Should be nice eye candy.

“The Colbert Report” (11:30 p.m., Comedy Central). Part 2 of a special salute to the troops. John Legend performs.

Catch a score

Giants vs. Padres (7 p.m., CSN-BA). A huge, epic series begins with first place in the NL West on the line.

“Vampire Diaries” (8 p.m., The CW). Season premiere. “Dear Diary: I suck. Blah.”
