Gideon Raff brings Tyrant to FX

Back in 2010 the extremely talented Israeli director and writer Gideon Raff created a television drama series called Prisoners of War. The show, which Raff also wrote and directed, went on to become Israel’s highest rated drama of all time and spawned a US adaptation, the highly acclaimed and multiple award winning Showtime series Homeland, starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis. Emmy nominations announced

The Emmy nominations were announced Thursday. While I have no idea which way Emmy voters will go, there are a lot of great nominations – and, of course, a couple of favorites missing from the list. A look at the major categories: Drama series:    “Breaking Bad”(AMC); “Downton Abbey” (PBS);“Game of Thrones” (HBO); “Homeland” (Showtime); “Mad Men” (AMC); and “House of Cards” (Netflix). Watch this (week of Sept. 30)

Remember when all the good shows were on Sunday? This week is another of those times, with several favorites returning:  “Once Upon a Time,” (8 p.m., ABC); “Revenge,” (9 p.m., ABC); “The Good Wife,” (9 p.m., CBS) and “The Mentalist,” (10 p.m., CBS). Emmy winners and losers

If you’re a fan of “Modern Family” or “Homeland,” your hands were probably sore from all that clapping Sunday night. If you’re not, well… the Emmys gave you ample opportunities to leave the room to grab snacks or refresh your beverage. The dominance was telegraphed early.
