Good news for ‘Dead’ fans

Finally. Cablevision and AMC have reached a deal with Dish Network. As I’ve lamented over the past weeks, the ongoing lawsuit meant Dish subscribers (of which I’m one) had to miss last week’s premiere of “The Walking Dead.” “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” fans, too, were left without access to AMC, which meant Dish subscribers had to download (and pay for) their favorite programs from iTunes or Amazon. Not too long ago, summer used to be the place where TV reruns would live, along with lots of lame basic cable (and premium-channel) dreck that was barely watchable. SAG award TV nominees

The Screen Actors Guild announced their nominations, including for TV. Among them: Drama ensemble: HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “Boardwalk Empire,” AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” CBS’ “The Good Wife” and Showtime’s “Dexter.” Comedy ensemble: “Modern Family,” “The Office,” “30 Rock,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Glee.” If I were to pick a favorite from this group, I’d have to go with “Modern Family,” but all of but one of these shows is in my DVR list.
