Arrow (CW 8:00 PM Wednesday) I like the Green Arrow (the super hero upon which this series is based) for the same reason I like Batman, they aren’t mutants with super powers, or from other planets, or created in a lab, they are tough guys who are willing to break bones to stop bullies; and that’s what the criminals they face down are, bullies who will do whatever they can get away with until someone says no.  The writers have done an excellent job telling Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) back-story, revealing over multiple episodes using flashbacks how a millionaire playboy became the Green Arrow.  If you are looking for a well done action/adventure series to fill a slot in your viewing schedule, this very well may be it; if you missed season one, check out some past episodes on XFINITY On Demand or HULU, and catch the season premiere this Wednesday.  Season two is expected to get off to a fast start, including the appearance of more DC regulars early on.

The Walking Dead (AMC 9:00 PM Sunday) Somehow I find the sting of losing Breaking Bad is lessened for me by the return of my (now that BB is gone for good) favorite show on TV, The Walking Dead.  In my fantasy life I’m the kind of guy who would not only survive, but thrive in a world overrun by zombies; in reality I highly doubt I could outrun my 85-year-old grandmother who has spinal stenosis, let alone an army of the walking dead and I’m pretty sure I would get eaten right away.  Nonetheless I enjoy watching Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the others fight for survival each week while doing their best to hold on to what decency and humanity they have left; often the evil done by fellow survivors exceeds that done by the zombies.  Much like other AMC series, The Walking Dead offers great story telling, superb acting, tons of drama, lots of action, and most importantly, a fun escape from the world of reality for an hour every Sunday.
