Last week was a little too hectic with premieres, I managed to watch every one, but I sat so much by Sunday night my back hurt; oh well, one must sacrifice for his art.  This week slows down a bit, but there are a couple premieres you won’t want to miss.

Monday

8:30 PM We Are Men (CBS)

Wednesday

9:30 PM Super Fun Night (ABC)

10:00 PM Ironside (NBC), Top Chef (Bravo)

Thursday

8:00 PM The Vampire Diaries (CW)

8:30 PM The Millers (CBS), Welcome to the Family (NBC)

9:00 PM The Originals (CW), Sean Saves the World (NBC)

10:00 PM Scandal (ABC)

Sunday

7:00 PM America’s Funniest Home Videos (ABC)

9:00 PM Drop Dead Diva (Lifetime)

10:00 PM Witches of East End (Lifetime)

Super Fun Night (ABC 9:30 PM Wednesday) I know literally nothing about this program except that it was created by and is written by the incredibly funny Rebel Wilson, she played Brynn, the chubby blonde girl with the accent and sarcastic wit, who got Annie Walker (Kristin Wiig) kicked out of her apartment in the film Bridesmaids.  ABC must believe in the series because they chose to put this on after Modern Family, I will look forward to seeing if Super Fun Night can hang onto Modern Family’s huge audience and become another successful ABC comedy.

Welcome to the Family (NBC 8:30 PM Thursday) Teen pregnancy, racial insensitivity, angry and domineering fathers; sounds like a great idea for a sitcom, right?  The pilot episode has been sitting on XFINITY On Demand for quite a while; I didn’t watch it, because the promos I saw didn’t seem that funny.  Finally I thought, why not give it a try?  I did and I enjoyed it; I laughed out loud several times, and to me that’s the only real measure of a successful sitcom, did I laugh? The sensitive part of the subject matter is handled well, and frankly I’m looking forward to seeing how the cultural differences between the white family and the Latino family coming together under stressful circumstances will be handled. Also, in a trailer for what’s coming up this season, the two dads are clearly going to punch each other in the groin during a boxing lesson (the Latino father played by Ricardo Chavira owns a boxing gym), I know it’s lowbrow, but I will laugh hard when that happens.
