NBC announced its fall schedule Sunday. In addition to the series I mentioned in a previous post Friday, the network will also  have the new comedy “Guys With Kids” about guys in their 30s coping with fatherhood.

To make room for its new shows, NBC canceled “Awake,” “Are You There, Chelsea?”, “Best Friends Forever,” “Bent” and “Harry’s Law.” But “Community,” which had been struggling in the ratings, will be back for 13 episodes, as will “30 Rock.” Unfortunately for fans of the latter, this coming season will be the last for “30 Rock.”

On Monday, Fox announced its schedule. The rumors were finally confirmed: Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will be joining “The X Factor.” Also, like NBC, Fox is betting on comedies, with only one new drama, “Mob Doctor,” slated for fall. (“The Following” with Kevin Bacon will arrive midseason, along with, you guessed it, another comedy: “The Goodwin Games.”)

As for cancellations, there weren’t any surprises: As expected, “Terra Nova” and “Alcatraz” won’t be returning.
