Geez, it’s almost like the Cylons wiped Caprica from the galactic map again — Syfy announced today it has canceled “Caprica,” effective immediately. Which means Tuesday night’s episode was the last one aired until Syfy decides to burn off the remaining five episodes sometime in early 2011.

That’s a pretty rude exit for the “Battlestar Galactica” prequel, which never got the ratings or buzz (either from critics or fanboys) that its predecessor did. Plans for another prequel pilot — this one, “Blood & Chrome,” will be more action-packed — were announced last week.

It’s too bad, “Caprica” had a good cast and an intriguing premise. But it was never able to be consistent enough in the story it was trying to tell. Well, at least we know how it ended.
