Watch it

“Rubicon” (9 p.m., AMC). Will finds out more about the mysterious Atlas McDowell, while Miles and Tanya interrogate a captured al-Qaida member. Honestly, I could to with a lot less of the George Boeck subplot and a lot more of the conspiracy surrounding Will.

“Mad Men” (10 p.m., AMC). Peggy and Joan have to be the grownups amid office high jinks.

Record it

“The Great Food Truck Race” (9 p.m., Food Network). The remaining trucks have to sell their food in tiny Jonesborough,Tenn. They probably don’t get many Vietnamese sandwiches or escargot popsicles there.

MTV Video Music Awards (9 p.m., MTV). Chelsea Handler hosts, and Kanye West will try not to insult Taylor Swift again.

“True Blood” (9 p.m. HBO). It’s the season finale (and I finally caught up, woo hoo!). Sookie considers a life without vampires, and Eric and Russell’s showdown comes to a head.

“Hung” (10 p.m., HBO). Tonight’s the season finale; wow, I missed the whole season. Well, that’s what On Demand is for.

“Entourage” (10:30 p.m., HBO). Another season finale, as everyone’s career is pretty much hanging on edge. Ooooh, maybe Vince will OD! (Oh no, I hope that’s not the cliffhanger ending.)

“My Boys” (10 and 10:30 p.m., TBS). It’s the final two episodes of the abbreviated season, as the gang considers finding a new bar, Mike finally finds a real girlfriend and Stephanie gets a job offer overseas.

Games of the day

Raiders vs. Titans (10 a.m., CBS). The season opener. Let’s see what Oakland can do now with a decent QB.

49ers vs. Seahawks (1 p.m., Fox). Alex Smith and the gang hope to pick up an important division win in their opener.

Cowboys at Redskins (5 p.m., NBC). And a game I don’t care about. I think I picked the Cowboys in my pool though.

Skip it

“Survivor: Nicaragua Preview” (8 p.m., TV Guide Network). This supposed sneak peek will reveal nothing of interest. Trust me, a complete waste of time. Just watch the real thing when it premieres Wednesday.
