Watch it

“Friday Night Lights” (8 p.m., NBC). The Giants are on CSN tonight, so this’ll air on time. Tonight, Tami faces fallout for her role in Becky’s abortion, Vince wants out of the criminal life and Luke gets hooked on pain pills. High drama, y’all. Only two episodes left after this one, so things are all coming to a head.

“The Pillars of the Earth” (10 p.m., Starz). Part 1 of a six-part miniseries based on the Ken Follett novel set in medieval England. Lots of sex, violence and swordplay. Check out these reviews from the NY Times and Miami Herald. Looks like a lot of trashy fun. Hey, it’s summer, nothing wrong with that.

Record it

“Whale Wars” (6 p.m., Animal Planet). Pete wants revenge for the Japanese ship’s ramming of the Ady Gill, and he tries to board it (Arrrrrr, mateys!). Spoiler alert: He was recently freed after spending a few months in a Japanese prison, so you can guess what happens (they probably don’t have video of it all though).

“Eureka” (9 p.m., Syfy). The rage virus sweeps the town. Oh wait, that’s “28 Days Later.” This is just a contagious case of rage spread around town by an unappreciated scientist.

“Haven” (10 p.m., Syfy). They kinda rip off the plot from “Eureka” — by some contagious mystery, the town starts to go insane. Come on guys, can’t you space out these episodes so it’s not so obvious?

Skip it

“Chefs vs. City” (10 p.m., Food Network). Tonight they’re in Palm Springs. Yeah, that’s a scenic culinary mecca. No thanks.
