I just got a press release from AT&T announcing they have reached a deal today with Rainbow Media, which owns AMC, We and IFC, among others, so U-verse subscribers will continue to get those channels. The deadline over a price dispute expired at midnight last night, and there was a looming threat to withhold those channels. If the dispute had dragged out another week, the July 25 season premiere of “Mad Men” would have had some AT&T cable customers sweating. As it turns out, a compromise was reached — AT&T called it a “fair deal” with “prices that are in line with the marketplace” — so viewers can turn on their TVs and relax like nothing ever happened. Until the next time this happens. (Maybe a different cable company and a different network, but rest assured, this will happen again.)
