Heh heh. Sounds like “Beavis and Butt-head” is returning to MTV with new episodes. MTV has confirmed to the New York Post that it’s bringing the animated series back from the dead. They say the show’s rudimentary animation style will remain the same and the two losers will still be in high school (they must live in a timeless universe, like “The Simpsons”) where they’ll mock music videos, torture frogs and do other dumb-ass stuff.

This also gives MTV a way of showing actual music videos again (remember those?). Funny how it’s come full circle – “Beavis and Butt-head” helped MTV shift away from music and more toward original programming, which morphed into the trashy reality-series mess that it is today. Maybe the second incarnation of “B&B” can help MTV find some sort of programming balance.

Oh who am I kidding? I really don’t care, it’s not like I’d watch a lineup of Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga videos anyway. Truth be told, I probably wouldn’t even watch a new “B&B” – I didn’t have cable in the ’90s, so I never got into it. Besides, it’s a show best enjoyed when you’re drunk at 2 a.m. Still, I know a few of you out there will be stoked by the news.

Here’s a classic clip:
