Friday

Watch it

Giants vs. Dodgers (7 p.m., KNTV). The Giants are off to their best start since their World Series year. Now they head south to take on their most hated rivals. A few wins in L.A. would be a sweet way to start the season.

Record it

“Life and Times of Tim” (9:30 p.m., HBO). Debbie reads Tim’s palm, and Tim ruins an escape artist’s career.

“Spartacus: Blood & Sand” (10 p.m., Starz). It’s the season finale, and Spartacus is looking for revenge.

Check in on the score

Sharks vs. Avalanche (7:30 p.m., CSN-CA). Hooo boy, are the Sharks going to blow it in the playoffs again? After a Game 1 loss, they need a win tonight.

Skip it

“Private Chefs of Beverly Hills” (10 p.m., Food Network). This supposed reality show looks completely fake. And stupid.

Saturday

Watch it

“America’s Worst Driver” (7 p.m., Travel). Four moving hazards compete in L.A.

“Doctor Who” (9 p.m., BBC America). Season premiere. The 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) takes over and immediately has to save the world. I’m not a fan, but I know this is eagerly anticipated by a die-hard crowd.

Record it

“Behind the Music Remastered” (9 p.m., VH1). VH1 takes a break from appalling dating shows and gives us an updated history of Motley Crue, sure to be full of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. But mostly sex and drugs.

If you’re my mom

“Patricia Cromwell’s ‘The Front'” (9 p.m., Lifetime). Based on the bestselling novel, a couple of cops try to solve a 40-year-old murder. It’s got a pretty decent cast: Franco from “Rescue Me,” Andie McDowell and Diahann Carroll.

Skip it

“Saturday Night Life” (11:35 p.m., NBC). Ryan Phillippe and Ke$ha. Um, seriously? Why?
