Watch it

“No Reservations” (7 p.m., Travel). Tony hits Provence. Yeah, they’ve got decent food there. I’ve fallen way behind this season, I still need to catch up on the past two weeks’ episodes.

“Chuck” (8 p.m., NBC). Chuck undergoes a final exam to determine if he’s worthy of being a spy.

“Gossip Girl” (9 p.m., The CW). Uh oh: Damien the evil drug-dealing playboy tries to get Jenny to sleep with him. You know, for a show with such a racy reputation, it can be surprisingly chaste with storylines like this. (I’m not saying it will be again, but . . .)

“Damages” (10 p.m., FX). Patty hunts down Carol Tobin, Ellen’s family life explodes, and Frobisher starts making a movie about his life. I have no clue how that last one fits into the big picture, but it’s awesome nonetheless.

Record it

“How I Met Your Mother” (8 p.m., CBS). Ted ruins Lily’s birthday dinner by bringing a date. Wow, sounds harsh.

“Top Gear” (8 p.m., BBC America). The guys build an electric car. There’ll be no excuse if Jeremy doesn’t get shocked.

“Nurse Jackie” (10 p.m., Showtime). Season premiere. I don’t get Showtime, but I saw a couple episodes of Season 1 and they were great. Needless to say, Jackie is still facing problems regarding her pill addiction and cheating on her husband. If you get Showtime, check it out.

“United States of Tara” (10:30 p.m., Showtime). Season premiere. Ditto for this. Haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard good things.

Skip it

“Dancing With the Stars” (8 p.m., ABC). I just don’t get the appeal. I really don’t.
