Watch it

“Human Target” (8 p.m., Fox). Last week’s episode was dumber than usual, but it hasn’t scared me off quite yet. Tonight Chance protects a hot D.A. (funny how his clients are always hot women) from a mob hitman.

“Modern Family” (9 p.m., ABC). Chock full o’ Valentine’s hijinks with each couple, highlighted by Claire getting her coat stuck in an escalator while wearing next to nothing underneath.

“Cougar Town” (9:30 p.m., ABC). A single Valentine’s Day for Jules. Boo hoo. So she hangs out with Grayson, which would make Laurie uncomfortable except she’s out with that rich guy Smith.

“The Daily Show” (11 p.m., Comedy Central). Say hey! Willie Mays is the guest, talking about his new biography.

Record it

“Charlie Brown Valentine” (8 p.m., ABC). It’s a classic.

“Faces of America with Henry Louis Gates Jr” (8 p.m., PBS). The first of three parts, as the Harvard professor hosts a genealogical examination of 12 prominent Americans, including Kristi Yamaguchi, Stephen Colbert and Malcolm Gladwell. I’m sure it’s intelligent, enlightening programming, but I’ll stick with “Human Target.” Isn’t that sad?

“The Inbetweeners” (9 and 9:30 p.m., BBC America). Will becomes a  popular girl’s rebound boyfriend in the first episode, and the guys find out Neil can dance when they go clubbing in the second one.

“Man vs. Wild” (9 p.m., Discovery). A special behind-the-scenes look at Bear’s crew and how they shoot the show. Huh. Maybe we’ll see how set-up it all is.

“Leverage” (10 p.m., TNT). Part 1 of the two-part season finale has the gang trying to pull a baseball scam on a crooked mayor.

Skip it

“Nip/Tuck” (10 p.m., FX). I hate to keep using this here, but it’s consistently the worst show on Wednesday nights.
