Watch it

“Shameless” (8 p.m., Sundance). I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard good things about this British import. It’s a kinda soapy dramedy about the British working class, with lots of sex, drugs and swearing. Sounds like a good way to kick off a Friday night.

“Caprica” (9 p.m., Syfy). The Graystones face a little backlash after Amanda outs Zoe as a terrorist. And the kids at school are tough on Lacy too, which will probably just push her closer to Sister Clarice. I really hope this episode picks up the pace, or it may be the last one I tune into.

“John Oliver’s New York Standup Show” (11 p.m., Comedy Central). Tonight’s lineup: Nick Kroll (“the League”), Kristen Schaal (“Flight of the Conchords”), Chris Hardwick and Matt Braunger.

Catch the last 5 minutes

“The Late Show with David Letterman” (11:30 p.m., CBS). Musical guests The Swell Season (the real-life couple from the movie “Once.”) Very cool.

Record it

“Anvil! The Story of Anvil” (8:30 p.m., VH1 Classic). A pretty fascinating documentary on a headbanging band who never quite made it big. Kinda like a real-life “This Is Spinal Tap.” Good luck finding VH1 Classic, it’s deep in the channel universe.

Hey, another telethon

SOS Save OurSelves: Help for Haiti (8 p.m., MTV, VH1, BET). This latest celebrity telethon/concert to raise funds for Haiti is hosted by P. Diddy, Queen Latifah and Pharrell, with performances by Wyclef Jean, Mary J. Blige and Ludacris, among others. Call me petty, but the whole giving-an-acronym-and-then-spelling-it-out-in-the-title thing bugs me.

Skip it

“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” (10 p.m., Starz). Lots of sex and dudes in loincloths chopping each others’ limbs off. But in a boring way. Tonight, Spartacus challenges the baddest gladiator on the block to a fight. Guess who wins?
