Watch it

“Man vs. Food” (6 p.m., Travel Channel). Season premiere. A special live broadcast from Miami, as Adam tries to eat a giant steak in a Super Bowl-themed two-hour episode. It’ll be rerun at 10 for those viewers who’d actually like to eat their dinner in peace.

“Human Target” (8 p.m., Fox). Chance protects a guy at a Canadian monastery from bad guys in search of relics. Sounds super cheesy. Count me in.

“Modern Family” (9 p.m., ABC). Minnie Driver guest-stars as Claire’s old friend, and Jay and Cameron’s butts accidentally touch at the gym. Everyone knows that means Jay’s gay now. And is it just me, or are they going overboard with guest stars? Enough already, the main cast are funny enough on their own.

“Cougar Town” (9:30 p.m., ABC). Jules and Ellie flirt with a hot new tennis instructor, as Ellie forgets she’s married to a short, tubby, bald guy.

Record it

“The Inbetweeners” (9 and 9:30 p.m., BBC America). This British sitcom hit the air last week, and I absolutely love it already, it’s hilarious. It’s about a group of semi-dorky kids’ misadventures in high school; picture a British version of “Superbad,” with some of the bad words bleeped out. Very funny, well worth checking out. For Comcast customers, the first three episodes are available On Demand, so you can catch up fast.

“Man vs. Wild” (9 p.m., Discovery). Bear is let loose in . . . the city. Huh? With no goat carcasses to skin or elephant poo to squeeze water from, how will he survive?

“Leverage” (10 p.m., TNT). Luke Perry guest-stars as a phony psychic who the gang plots to take down.

“Psych” (10 p.m., USA). A rafting trip awry for one unlucky guy, and Shawn suspects foul play. Sarah Shahi (“The L Word”) guest-stars as Gus’ thrill-seeking girlfriend.

“Steven Seagal: Lawman” (10 p.m., A&E). It’s the season finale already. Awwww. Tonight we get two homicides (woo hoo, real crimes!) and our hero learns firsthand about criminal recidivism.

“Being Erica” (10 p.m., Soap). Erica jumps back in time to her babysitting days. Sounds a little chick-ey for me (this coming from the guy who watches “Life Unexpected” and HGTV), but a friend of mine tuned in for the first time last week and really liked it. Might be worth checking out.

Skip it

“O’Reilly Factor” (6 p.m., Fox News). This might go without saying, but hear me out. Jon Stewart visits the “No Spin Zone” for a two-part interview airing tonight and tomorrow, and the back-and-forth sparring could be fun. But there’s no reason to watch the whole hour, just try to find it online tomorrow.

“Nip/Tuck” (10 p.m., FX). An actress’ cosmetic surgery goes bad. Ick.

“Real World” (10 p.m., MTV). Uh oh, a fight! In the previews, it looks like Andrew almost gets physical with Ashley, which opens up a can of worms about her abusive past. Ehhh, I still don’t care.
