Stars return to ‘Party Down’
by TV

Don't mess with Jane Lynch.
Turns out Jane Lynch (”Glee”) and Kristen Bell (”Veronica Mars,” “Couples Retreat”) aren’t too big of stars to repeat their appearances on the brilliant but under-the-radar Starz sitcom “Party Down.” Word has come out that both will be back when the series about struggling actors making do at a dysfunctional catering company starts its second season in April.
They won’t be regulars though. Bell, who made a hilarious cameo as tough-as-nails caterer Uda Bengt in the first-season finale, will be dating Henry (Adam Scott) in the season opener. But with her busy movie schedule, that might be all we see of her. (Which, while unfortunate, kinda makes sense, since the show is about a workplace.)
Season 1 regular Lynch, who is on a fast track to an Emmy with her role on “Glee,” will also appear in just one episode, the Season 2 finale, and it’ll be her wedding day. My guess? The gang will be catering her big day. That should be comic gold.
To fill the hole left by Lynch, Season 2 will introduce Megan Mullaly as the newest member of the catering crew.
“Party Down” was one of the funniest new shows of the past year. It’s still not available on DVD yet, but when it does, it’ll definitely be worth checking out.

As a kid, Mike Murphy wanted to jump cars and shoot dynamite arrows like on “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Now that he’s a grown-up, he’d be satisfied with running “The Amazing Race.” Click on over for the musings, rants and occasional bits of useful news from a certified TV addict.
