Bryce Canyon National Park. Go there, it's way cool.

In a case of super quick turnaround, Ken Burns’ “National Parks” series that aired on PBS last week is being released today on DVD. Whew, guess that means I can delete eight hours of it from my DVR, guilt-free.

I meant to watch it, I really did. I grew up spending summers at national parks; I love going to them, I love history, I love fantastic scenery in high-def . . . . but I just couldn’t get into the series. Sure, it was informative, but the pace was just too slow for me, the episodes were too long and the constant folksy guitar- and banjo-playing started to drive me slightly insane. I only made it through part of one episode, and I felt kinda bad. Especially when I switched over to watch “Gossip Girl” instead.

But whatever. Now that it’s on DVD, I can save it in my Netflix queue for when I have a lot of free time on my hands. Maybe when I get laid up with swine flu. Or get laid off – whichever comes first.
