Jimmy Fallon celebrates yacht rock
by TV
OK everyone, time to break out your topsiders and sailor hat and comb out your moustache. On tonight’s “Late Show” (12:35 a.m. NBC), Jimmy Fallon is throwing a yacht rock party and you’re invited!
Yacht rock, of course, is that genre of late ’70s/early ’80s easy-listening music popularized by Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald and Christopher Cross. And it’s the title of a hilarious, now-classic Channel 101 Web series. Take a peek:
Tonight on Fallon, special guest Christopher Cross will be crooning “Sailing” and “Ride Like the Wind,” and the show is going all-out to provide tips on how you can better enjoy the experience, including fashion advice, a list of classic yacht rockers and a recipe for a “Caribbean Queen” cocktail (which sounds like it would induce sickly sweet, technicolor vomit).
Enjoy! (But don’t rock the boat, baby!)

As a kid, Mike Murphy wanted to jump cars and shoot dynamite arrows like on “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Now that he’s a grown-up, he’d be satisfied with running “The Amazing Race.” Click on over for the musings, rants and occasional bits of useful news from a certified TV addict.
